William Hill bag Boxer AJ as Brand Ambassador

Recently, William Hill promised us that they would be building a strong group of Brand Ambassadors after they had landed former Sky Sports broadcaster Kirsty Gallacher. It’s taken a while to add to their team but Hills have now bagged a truly big name in English boxing’s heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

A winner on the global stage, AJ is one of the most feared and respected fighters of his generation but what will he bring to the William Hill set up?

Joining the Team

Joshua has signed up in an initial one year deal which will see the current IBF, WBA and WBO World Champion involved in a number of Hill’s advertising and marketing campaigns over the next twelve months.

In doing so, he joins an existing team that includes Kirsty Gallacher, retired footballer Robbie Savage and former Champion Jockey Anthony McCoy. He’s one of the biggest names in world boxing right now so clearly, William Hill are delighted to have AJ on board.

Leading Personality

CEO of William Hill Philip Bowcock said:

Anthony Joshua is one of the leading sports personalities of his generation and he has achieved so much so quickly.  It’s exciting times at William Hill as we expand into the United States and we felt this was a perfect time to announce a global brand ambassador.

AJ is the ideal fit for the role and we believe he will help us grow and energise our brand as we join him on his journey to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Anthony Joshua

In reply, Anthony Joshua added:

I am pleased to partner with William Hill. We are both leaders in our fields so it was only right to go ‘all in’ with them!

They are promoting and marketing boxing to a huge audience outside of our industry which is something I am passionate about.

England’s Best?

At the time the announcement was made, Anthony Joshua had won all of his 21 professional fights with 20 of those coming via knockout. He has so far unified three belts and in terms of overall success, he could prove to be perhaps the greatest boxer that England has ever known.

In signing up with William Hill as brand ambassador, AJ has stated that he wants to harness their influence to bring boxing in front of a whole new audience and as one of the most respected fighters in the sport right now, Hills could hardly have picked a better option as they look to achieve their aims.

Details of the marketing campaigns will follow in due course but customers of William Hill may see plenty of Anthony Joshua as they sign in and use their accounts and he’s likely to be very evident on the corporate social media channels at the same time.

William Hill’s ambassador team is getting stronger all the time but this latest addition sees the inclusion of a current sportsman at the very top of his game. AJ’s aim is to bring new fans into boxing while Hills look to attract new customers and build their recognised brand and this looks to be a perfect pairing with the potential to meet all of those targets.
