Mauricio Pochettino’s men are in the semi final of the FA Cup but even if a trophy eludes them, it’s still been an impressive campaign.
Behind the scenes, Tottenham’s commercial partnership with betting company Fun88 also looks to be thriving as news comes through concerning an extension to the existing arrangement.
The existing contract between the two parties sees Fun88 listed as the club’s official betting partner for the Latin America and Asian regions. The deal is essentially just an extension of that arrangement but for any commercial partner of Tottenham Hotspur, the timing of the announcement is the most important aspect.
After a year at their temporary Wembley home, Spurs are all set for a move back to North London in their new stadium. With an increased capacity there is obvious scope for additional exposure and that’s why Fun88 will undoubtedly be delighted to get the contract over the line.
The arrangement sees Fun88 provided with pitch perimeter advertising at the new ground and presumably the company brand will be clearly visible on the club’s official website, thereby putting their name in front of millions more across Spurs’ global fanbase.
The length of the contract is unknown and the financial details haven’t been disclosed but it’s certain to be a significant sum with Tottenham Hotspur, as a progressive club, able to command premium deals from all of their partners.
Speaking on behalf of the football club, Tottenham’s head of partnerships Fran Jones said:
We are looking forward to continuing this long standing relationship with Fun88, which sees them join us in the move to our exciting new state-of-the-art stadium.
The consistent and impressive growth of the club’s localised digital channels provides Fun88 with a good platform to develop and grow the brand across Asia and Latin America.
In reply, Fun88’s Nathan Walker added:
We are proud to extend our relationship with Tottenham Hotspur and their fans in Asia and Latin America. We have seen the brand grow in line with the club’s growth, both on and off the pitch.
Our customers will see much more in terms of team interaction and the world class new stadium will provide our customers with more exclusive offerings. Our upcoming campaigns with the club will definitely be worth watching out for.
Spurs’ move back to a brand new stadium marks a new and exciting period for the club who have enjoyed consistent progression in the Premier League over the last three seasons. If they can finish inside the Champions League places at the end of 2017/18, Tottenham will have qualified for Europe’s elite competition for three years running and that’s a happy position for the players and fans to be in.
Detractors point to the fact that Spurs haven’t won a trophy since claiming the League Cup in 2008 but regardless of whether they grab any silverware this season, their progression can be considered a success across the previous three campaigns.
In order to keep moving forward, Tottenham will need to keep their best players at the club while strengthening with world class arrivals. The likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are frequently linked with moves abroad so Spurs will need to keep them happy.
That’s why commercial deals such as this one with Fun88 are vital, even for a club of Tottenham’s stature. It’s clearly been a productive arrangement and moving forward, Spurs will continue to benefit from their partner’s financial input while the operator moves with them into an exciting new era and some increased exposure at their new stadium.
