With the announcement of Prince Harry’s engagement to Meghan Markle, a popular Royal betting market came to a conclusion. With the wedding taking place in 2018 at Windsor Castle, further options came to an end in regards to timing and location.
However, for those that like to take a Royal punt, we have plenty of markets still available and they include bets that focus on both Harry and Meghan. Here’s a rundown of what’s on offer.
Usual Suspects
As is often the case with any kind of novelty betting, Paddy Power are at the front of the queue when it comes to the biggest range of options. These range from the sensible to the ridiculous so let’s start with the ritual that every groom has to go through.
The wedding arrangements may be finalised but Harry still has to sort out his stag do and Paddy Power have a market open based on potential locations for those celebrations. A range of towns and cities have been listed for the UK and beyond and your task is therefore to pick a winner.
Paddy Power have installed Chelsea as the favourite here at 8/1 with Kensington Palace just behind at odds of 10/1. The feeling therefore is that the Prince will stay local and have something of a quiet time of it before the actual wedding.
If, however, you want to speculate on an overseas trip then Prague and Las Vegas have the shortest prices in this respect at 12/1. However, after a well-publicised indiscretion in Vegas, it seems unlikely that the Prince will return there.
Other prices for this particular bet include Berlin at 16/1 and Budapest at 25/1 while we also have some outside punts including Blackpool and Brighton at 150/1 and Botswana at 200/1.
Best Man

If you’ve made a choice in the Stag Do market or you want to look elsewhere then the Best Man betting may hold some interest. At first glance, it may look prohibitive as the favourite is Prince William at odds of 1/50 with Paddy Power.
However, the majority of news reports insist that Harry will not appoint his brother to do the honours as this would mark a break with royal tradition. The market still suggests otherwise but we could certainly look at some of the Prince’s friends for some potential value.
In second place in the betting is Charlie van Straubenzee at 10/3 with Paddy Power once again. A long standing friend, Van Straubenzee has been described as Harry’s wingman and seems the most likely candidate if the Prince stays with tradition and doesn’t choose his brother to do the honours.
There are plenty of other options outside of the top two and these include Thomas Inskip at 7/1, James Matthews at 10/1 and Arthur Landon at 12/1. Once again, all of those prices are with Paddy Power.
Weather
Paddy continue with a choice of more obscure bets involving Harry and Meghan, including the option to punt on the weather. If you feel that it might rain on their wedding day in May, Paddy Power are offering odds of 9/4 with no rain the favourite at 2/7.
Another option is to bet on who will be in attendance at the wedding and this is where Paddy Power’s light hearted side really comes through. The bets here start with obvious candidates including Elton John and Millie Mackintosh at 1/50 and then we have some mid-range numbers that include Boris Johnson at 9/1 and Ben Fogle at 8/1.
At the other end of the scale, Paddy have offered the deposed leader of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, at 275/1 and any of the Kardashians at 66/1.
Final Bets
Meghan Markle
The list continues and Paddy Power have also quoted odds of 1/4 that the wedding day will not be declared as an official Bank Holiday in the UK. It has already been suggested that this will be the case but it’s not been completely confirmed so you could bet Yes in this market and get odds of 5/2.
Other Royal bets focus on Meghan Markle and punters at Paddy Power can get odds of 20/1 on the new bride to appear in an episode of Eastenders in 2018. She has stated that she will end her acting career to focus on humanitarian work but there are other options including an appearance in Line of Duty at 25/1 while Paddy are listing odds of 50/1 on Meghan to join the Strictly Come Dancing line up for 2018.
Amongst all the frivolous bets, there are some serious options here and potentially there is some good value to be found. If we were to commit to a bet from this long list then we’d suggest taking the 10/3 on Charlie Van Straubenzee to be Harry’s best man. Reports indicate that Prince William will not do the job and if they are to be believed, this option could return a decent profit.
