Pari Mutuel Expands into Daily Fantasy Sports

All the signs seem to suggest that we are set for a sustained period of growth in the fantasy sports sector. For many years, the two main players in this part of the industry have been DraftKings and FanDuel and these two operators have both been raising their profile in recent weeks with moves into general sports betting while a number of corporate sponsorship deals have also been announced.

At the same time, we are starting to see new players get behind this side of the industry and in the latest move, the French giant Pari Mutuel Urbain has announced its intention to get involved in Daily Fantasy Sports.

Key Partnership

Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) has been providing a sportsbook platform for some time in partnership with Sportnco and that joint operation has continued into the fantasy sports realm. Daily fantasy games have already been made available as the operator recognises a key growth area for betting as a whole.

The partnership between operator and sportsbook software provider has been in place since 2014 and at the heart of the relationship is creativity and innovation which the two sides have  looked to build upon with this new move.

The announcement has also been timed to coincide with the World Cup in Russia so it’s a perfect time to take advantage of arguably the biggest sporting event on the planet. As the name suggests, Daily Fantasy Sports offers chances to get involved with games on a rolling 24 hour basis and for players to pick their teams and do battle against the odds to win.

It’s also very interesting to see a European operator get behind this sector of the industry and that’s further evidence that this is a big growth area that is set to explode in the way that eSports did and continues to do so in the modern day.
