Czech Republic v England: Three Lions Aim to March On
Table of Contents
Four wins from four mean that England are already assured of reaching the playoffs but Gareth Southgate’s men will surely rubber stamp their Euro 2020 qualification shortly. On paper, an away fixture to the Czech Republic may be the toughest test in Group A but the Three Lions have great momentum and are hot favourites for three points.
The squad looks in good shape and close to full fitness so is there any value in the result market or should we be looking at the side betting ahead of Friday night’s game?

Match Odds
England are a heavy odds on option for the win and you can back the away side at 2/5 in many places. You can improve on that by taking the industry best of 4/9 from either Unibet or 888Sport or you could look at alternatives.
The draw is the next option at 18/5 with SportNation and RedZone while victory for the Czech Republic is out at 13/2 with Ladbrokes and Coral. The Czech Republic are second in Group A with a respectable record of three wins from five but England’s dominance has given them that short price in the result market. Four straight wins have been highlighted by 19 goals for and just four conceded and it’s tough to see an upset in this contest.
Individual Goal Scorers
If you’re looking for some better value than that 4/9 on an England win, we’ll kick off our search with the first goalscorer betting. Spurs may have had their struggles on the domestic front this season but Harry Kane has been a regular on the scoresheet. England’s skipper is in even better form for his country and Kane is favourite to find the net first at best odds of 3/1 with Betway.
Fellow centre forward Callum Wilson is just behind at a top price of 4/1 with Betway and BetFred while Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham is enjoying a stunning season and he is at a best of 17/4 – also with Betway.
England players continue to dominate with Raheem Sterling at 5/1, Jadon Sancho at 7/1 plus Mason Mount and James Maddison who are both at 9/1 – all with Betway once again.
Finally we get to the Czech Republic and we have two players at the same top price of 11/1. Patrik Schick is at that figure with Black Type while Michal Krmencik is quoted at that 11/1 figure with Betway.
Of those two, Schick should certainly attract some interest: The Roma striker has scored four of the Czech Republic’s nine goals in qualifying and that tally makes him the group’s second highest scorer behind Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.
In the goal scorer betting markets for both England and Manchester City, Raheem Sterling has been profitable for us since the start of last season. We’ll take the winger again but as we often do, we’ll play a little safer and take the best odds of 8/5 from Unibet on a goal for Sterling in 90 minutes.
Other Side Bets
We’ll round up some of the popular side bets by starting with Both Teams to Score. This can be claimed at a top price of 21/20 with SportingBet. It’s rare to see this bet head above Even Money but is there any value in that figure?
The key to BTTS landing lies with the Czechs. They have scored those nine games in five Euro 2020 qualifiers so far but the side did draw a blank when they travelled to Wembley back in March. Overall, three of their last five matches would have produced a BTTS profit so we’re happy to add this one to our slip.
As for total goals, you can be conservative and back Over the 2.5 goal line which would return at best odds of 11/13 with SportingBet. That’s not a bad figure but we think you can be braver and go Over 3.5 which sneaks above Even Money at 41/20 with 888Sport and Unibet.
Finally, in terms of a Correct Score bet, our instinct is to go for Czech Republic 1 England 3 and that drops in at 45/4 with Sportnation and Red Zone.
It looks like it’s going to be another comfortable night for England but if you want to steer away from the result betting, these three side bets have the potential to add up to a profitable 90 minutes.
Best Bets:
- Raheem Sterling to score any time at 8/5 with Unibet
- Both Teams to Score at 21/20 with SportingBet
- Over 3.5 Goals at 41/20 with 888Sport
