The German Bundesliga has been among the busiest leagues in terms of new sponsor deals across the summer and that trend has continued now that the season has officially kicked off. Meanwhile, Betway has been one of the most active operators and now, the sportsbook has got involved with Germany’s elite league.
In the latest announcement, it’s been confirmed that Betway will act as Fortuna Dusseldorf’s official betting partner in a three year contract that will take both sides through to the end of the 2020/21 season.
Moving Up
Dusseldorf have been no strangers to the Bundesliga over the course of their long history but they find themselves as new boys for the 2018/19 campaign. Manager Friedhelm Funkel’s team were promoted from the second tier at the end of the 2017/18 season so this year is all about consolidating and competing at the top once again.
For Betway, the new arrangement will lead to all the exposure that an operator can expect from a high profile partnership such as this one. The company’s brand will be clearly visible in and around Dusseldorf’s Esprit Arena while also appearing on social media and other digital channels.
After a busy summer, the operator is delighted to have completed this additional deal.
Exciting Time
Betway’s Antony Werkman said:
It’s been a very busy summer at Betway. Following three deals with La Liga clubs in Spain and AS Roma in Italy, we’ve today strengthened our hand in the German market by partnering with Dusseldorf.
It’s an exciting time for the club, having just been promoted to the Bundesliga, and we’re really pleased to have come on board as they look to build on last season’s success.
There is no word as yet from the football club but there is no doubt that the partnership is a welcome one as the side looks to do battle in Germany’s top league once again.
Competing
Fortuna Dusseldorf and their manager Friedhelm Funkel will want to make sure that they stay away from a relegation fight during this 2018/19 campaign. The club has spent recent seasons between the first and second tier and their promotion last time around saw them back in the Bundesliga for the first time since 2012/13.
The initial aim is to stay in the top division but Dusseldorf will then want to progress and start to compete in the top half of the table. That should be a minimum target but to achieve that, Dusseldorf will need to strengthen the squad as they move forward.
On the pitch, the team is led by their long serving captain Oliver Fink but at the age of 36, the midfielder will need to be replaced in the near future. Overall, this is an ageing squad so some reinforcements will be required and that’s where Betway can help with the finances generated by this deal.
For the operator, who are already involved with fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, this represents further expansion across Europe and this is a strong deal with good balance for both parties.
