Betway Continue eSports Push with FACEIT SponsorshipWhile eSports is an important and growing market for the betting industry, sponsorship of events has so far been restricted to just a handful of operators. Among them are Betway who have backed teams and events to a greater extent than most over the years and have grown to become arguably the most important partner to the sector.

In a latest announcement, it’s been confirmed that Betway will be the title sponsor for FACEIT, a major event held in London which features the game Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO).

Big Time

If anyone doubts that eSports lacks the capacity to hit the big time in terms of competitive gaming, the huge prize fund of $1 million should answer any suspicions. This is one of the biggest events on the entire circuit but in order to keep that prize money high, commercial partners are vital so the arrangement with Betway is certainly a timely one.

FACEIT CS:GO will take place at Wembley Arena from September 20th through to the 23rd and, having been involved with a number of minor events in the past, this is Betway’s first Major. It’s therefore an exciting time for the operator which they have acknowledged.

Anthony Werkman

CEO of Betway Anthony Werkman said:

We are thrilled to be sponsoring the FACEIT Major. The UK is full of very passionate CS:GO fans, and we are extremely excited to be involved.

It will undoubtedly be the UK’s most impactful esports event of all time. FACEIT is an important part of the esports community, and we couldn’t be happier to support them in the creation of this iconic event.

In reply, co-founder and CEO of FACEIT Michele Attisani added:

Having Betway’s support is extremely exciting for us. The Major is the biggest esports event the UK has ever seen.

It’s essential we work with industry leading partners like Betway to deliver an unforgettable tournament that will set a new standard for esports events in the UK.

Grass Roots

As part of the overall contract, Betway will also be sponsoring the FACEIT minors qualifiers which take place at Twickenham in July 2018. This is where teams compete to progress and take part in the Major event so the operator is really lending important financial support from the ground upwards.

As a regular sponsor of the team Ninjas in Pyjamas, Betway also got behind the return of the notorious Brazilian eSports club MIBR earlier this year. Their involvement will register with the playing community and as this is such a growing sector of the iGaming industry, it’s likely that Betway will start to secure a place as one of the favoured destinations for eSports betting.

In return, their support will help the organisers of FACEIT CS:GO maintain such a high prize fund which will, in turn, keep attracting the biggest and best teams on the circuit. It’s therefore a nicely balanced arrangement with benefits to all parties and it will be fascinating to watch this partnership develop.
