Betway Backing Cricket with new T20 Sponsorship

It’s been a quiet period in terms of new sports sponsor deals but one of the most active operators in this sector has moved to break the silence. Betway are known in the world of football with their headline deal with West Ham United and they are also one of the few sportsbooks who plough their money into eSports.

Now, the operator has broken through with a deal that extends their support in the sport of cricket. The Mzansi Super League T20 is already underway in South Africa with some excellent entertainment being played out up and down the country and Betway are now fully on board.

Official Partner

Under the terms of this new deal, Betway have been installed as the official betting partner of the Mzansi Super League which is currently being played in six venues up and down South Africa.

Six franchises are involved and the early pace setters are the Cape Town Blitz who have won both of their opening matches but there is a long way to go in this tournament. The competition got underway earlier in November and it will run for a full month with the final set to take place on December 16th with the venue to be confirmed.

Betway will be there every step of the way and the operator is delighted to be on board.

Global Partner

Anthony Werkman

CEO of Betway Anthony Werkman said:

We are really pleased to be on board at the start of this new look T20 tournament.

Being involved as a global partner shows the ambition Betway has to become a recognised worldwide supporter of elite professional sport, and the names appearing in this tournament certainly fit that bill.

I am sure that the crowds will enjoy the games and we look forward to delivering an exciting experience for our customers too over the next three years.

In response, CEO of South Africa Cricket Thabang Moroe added:

We are thrilled to have sports betting brand, Betway, on board to join our roster of sponsors, all whom have committed to helping us take Mzansi T20 to the world through the game of cricket.

Big Guns

Some of the biggest names in South African limited overs cricket will be taking part in the competition including AB De Villiers, Hashim Amla, Imran Tahir and Quinton De Kock. They have been joined by some select overseas talent and although the best New Zealand and Australian T20 exponents are employed with their respective national sides, the Mzansi Super League has attracted some top players from England, the West Indies and Afghanistan.

The model hopes to mirror the type of success that we’ve seen with the Big Bash and the Indian Premier League and while there is some way to go before the South African version can match those tournaments, the three year commitment from Betway will help them along the road.

For the operator, this represents a second push into the sport following their backing of the West Indies men’s and women’s teams and their backing of cricket should help the betting community to view Betway as a ‘go to’ operator for this particular sport.
