Betway Announce Deportivo Alaves Sponsorship

While the World Cup has been dominating the football headlines for the last few weeks, sportsbook and casino operator Betway have been busy behind the scenes getting a number of sponsorship deals in place for the new season.
We’ve already seen the company give their backing to C.D. Leganes this summer and they have stayed in Spain to seal a deal which sees Betway become the shirt sponsor of La Liga outfit Deportivo Alaves.
Long Term Vision
The contract is for an initial two years and will see Betway’s logo appear on the home and away shirts of Alaves from the start of the 2018/19 season. Financial details have not been disclosed but this represents a significant commitment to the club and it underlines Betway’s vision in terms of extending beyond the UK and across mainland Europe.
In the English Premier League, the operator has been the main sponsor of West Ham United for some time while the Alaves and Leganes deals add to existing arrangements with Levante, Werder Bremen and Anderlecht.
Betway’s European footprint is certainly spreading and they are naturally delighted with the new deal.
On the Up
Betway’s Anthony Werkman said:
We are always looking for great ways to promote the Betway brand globally and we have done that with Deportivo Alavés, our third La Liga shirt sponsorship deal.
Deportivo Alavés is a club on the up and we are delighted to be playing a part in their journey ahead of their third successive season in La Liga. It’s sure to be yet another exciting campaign.
On behalf of the football club, Alfonso Fdez. de Trocóniz, Chairman of Deportivo Alavés, replied:
It’s an honour to partner with a company as big as Betway until 2020. We welcome them to the Deportivo Alavés family and we look forward to growing together.
Pushing On
Alaves can now prepare for their third successive season in La Liga knowing that they have strong financial input that can help them to achieve their goals. The club needs to push on as it finished in 14th place at the end of 2017/18 and they will need to improve to keep clear of the relegation places.
Their coach is Abelardo, a former Alaves player who also featured 54 times for the Spanish national side and the squad is mainly made up of domestic players. Their captain is Manu Garcia who has been with the club since 2012 and among the overseas imports is Sweden striker John Guidetti who previously enjoyed a prolific loan spell with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
It’s a competent squad but it perhaps needs the addition of some extra players in the summer that can help pull Alaves into the top half of the table for 2018/19.
The finance generated by Betway will help with that realistic aim while for Betway, the brand is certainly starting to become more well-known across Europe and in Spain in particular.
It’s a positive deal all round and we await Alaves’ developments over the course of the new season while for Betway, it will be fascinating to see if further announcements are made as they look to build their name via extensive sponsorship campaigns.
